Purple People Help to Enhance Quality of Life in Downtown

If you live Downtown you're probably familiar with the Purple People. Employed by Downtown Center Business Improvement District, these purple-shirted men and women help out with some of the most demanding of urban services. They provide security through a bike patrol force, clean up the city's trash with an efficient maintenance team, and are also a great information source for lost tourists.
Covering 65 square blocks in the Central City area, the accomplishments of the Purple People are impressive. All in all, the group has collected 12,000 tons of trash, removed 3,000 graffiti tags, swept 71,000 miles of street, reached out to 5,500 homeless people, and fielded more than 375,000 calls for service.
